Nassau Community College outlasted North Essex defeating them 2-1 after 10 innings. An RBI by Louis Aponte was the deciding factor.
Both teams were scoreless through four innings before North Essex scored their lone run. Christopher Legerstrom hit an infield single before Jonathan De La Cruz hit a bunt single. A ground out moved the pair into scoring position before a fly out brought Legerstrom home.
Nassau tied the game in sixth inning. Brandon Gideon rounded the bases with a single to right field and a passed ball. An error by first baseman Jacob Rayner scored Gideon. Both teams had several chances to score additional runs. The most notable opportunity came for Nassua in the eighth inning. Chris Appell drew the walk before Brandon Gideon was hit by a pitch. The pair then went to steal third and second base. Appell tripped rounding third but the throw went all the way to left fielder Christopher Andella. Appell got back home and headed for home but Andella made a strong throw to the plate and threw him out.
